Do you admire birds and would like to explore them through watercolour in a calm and creative atmosphere?
In this beginner-friendly course, we will learn the fundamentals of watercolour painting while discovering the many different ways a bird can be expressed on paper. From soft, atmospheric washes to more detailed, minimalist, or expressive interpretations, participants will explore a wide range of styles and techniques.
Light, Water and First Feathers – Observation, materials
Introduction to Watercolour – Water control, brush technique
Form & Proportion Made Simple – Simplified bird anatomy
Expressive & Atmospheric Birds – Glazing and soft edges
Colourful & Decorative Birds – Crisp edges and transparent colours
Minimalist Birds – Practising the wet-on-wet technique
Abstract Birds – Using a chosen technique
Final Bird Study – Composition and reflection
A set of watercolour brushes in several sizes (e.g. boesner or Van Gogh – junior/student grade)
A basic set of pan watercolours: at least the primary colours (+ green if possible)
A water container and a white palette for mixing
